Please read the message below from the AYL regarding the current basketball season. Raptors will continue to keep you updated as things progress. As indicated in the email below, the 20/21 Winter season has been cancelled. However, we will have a 2021 Summer League. We will keep registrations open and determine the final payment date once the Summer season is confirmed.
I am available to discuss with you directly any questions or concerns you may have. Feel free to reach out to me directly at Justin@RaptorsAthletics.org.
The AYL hopes this email finds you safe and in good health. The AYL board has been meeting regularly since last July in trying to develop and manage the 2020-2021 basketball season. Due to the known state, county and local school district restrictions we have postponed the season several times since our annual start time in November. Given the current state of all school districts affiliated within the AYL being in the Orange Covid status and the denial of many permits by several schools, we have decided to cancel the 2020-2021 winter basketball season.
Basketball is one of two sports that is played indoors which holds us to more restricted parameters. We understand many other leagues are starting up soon with strict limitations in place however more than 98% of our league games are played at schools versus recreation centers and private facilities.
However, the Raptors and the AYL board is excited to announce that we will be implementing a new league for summer 2021. We are looking to begin the season in May with first games being played on June 5th through the end of July. We are anticipating games being played in High School and Middle School gyms for grade levels 2nd through 8th. Players who complete 8th grade this school year will be eligible to participate on an 8th grade team for the Summer League only. We also plan to have our 2021-2022 season begin in November 2021.
The AYL would like to thank you all for your interest and patience as we all try to get through these trying times. Our goal is to create a fun, healthy and safe environment for all of our kids and coaches.

Division 1: This level of competition is intended for kids who have been playing basketball consistently and understand fundamentals of ball handling and basic game rules. Teams that have played together in other leagues for at least 1 year should consider playing at this level. Returning AYL teams that have a greater than 50% winning record AND 60% or more of their players returning are encouraged to play at this level.
Division 2: This level of competition is intended for kids who desire a competitive basketball experience but may not have been playing on a consistent team in previous years or are just moving up from a recreational league.
